ගී රස බුදු ඇසින්


Jayo Munindassa Translation


Someone asked me to Translate the following verses into English- for her spiritual friend from Philippines who wishes her path to Nirvana to be ended within this or next life time.


Jayo munindassa subodhi mūle
ahosi mārassa parājayohi
ugghosayuṃ deva gaṇā pasannā 
etena saccena jayassu tuyhaṃ

“Victory of the Lord of seers at the root of the wonderful Bodhi (tree)
It was Māra's (the evil one’s) defeat”
Exclaimed the groups of devas delighted
By the power of this truth, may you be victorious too



Buddho tiloka saraṇo
The Buddha is the refuge for three worlds (Human World Devine world and the Brahma World)
Buddho suriyo tamonudo
The Buddha is the Sun that dispels the darkness
evaṃtaṃ saraṇaṃ khemaṃ
That like is the safe refuge
buddho me saraṇaṃ varaṃ
The Buddha is my foremost refuge.

N’atthi me saraṇaṃ aññaṃ
I have no other refuge,
          Buddho me saraṇaṃ varaṃ
The Buddha is my foremost refuge.
Etena sacca-vajjena
Through the speaking of this truth,
          Sotthi me hotu sabbadā.
          may I be blessed always.

Dhammo tiloka saraṇo
The Dhamma is the refuge for three worlds (Human World Devine world and the Brahma World)
Dhammo suriyo tamonudo
The Dhamma is the Sun that dispels the darkness
evaṃ taṃ saraṇaṃ khemaṃ
That like is the safe refuge
Dhammo me saraṇaṃ varaṃ
